We are pleased to note that all Barrington 220 classified and certified employees now have digital access via Apple MacBook, iPad, or iPhone. Custodians now have direct access to the district's help desk ticketing system. Classroom aides now have access to many of the apps students use in classrooms daily. Administrative assistants and specialists will be able to use MacBook laptops in all meeting areas. All employees now have access to Skyward accounts to access personal and financial records.
During planning stages in the past year, our rollout began in November and concluded at the end of the year. Device rollouts started by providing iPad devices to many of our Barrington 220 classified staff. This took place through multiple deployment/training events, where devices were enrolled onto our network, and staff learned some basics of how to access the Internet, Google Apps, and a set of training video clips produced by members of our tech team. These video clips, in English and Spanish languages, provide staff members with information about how to access systems such as Skyward.
In December 2018, MacBook laptops were introduced to classified staff members who were formerly using Windows desktop computers. Old Windows desktop computers were both at the end of a lease cycle and the end of practical life. Training events were scheduled to keep class sizes small, and staff members were provided a two-hour introduction to MacBook and macOS concepts.
I attended most of these training events and the staff were absolutely great to work with!
Barrington 220 employees using iPad or MacBook who have questions are encouraged to stop by their school library and get their questions answered by one of our LTA staff members. Did you forget a password? Is your device not working correctly? If so, reach out to our tech support department at x.1500 (224-655-1500). Our tech team is glad to help!
